Sad Reality: For Many Fans, Mets Still Not Available on FM Radio

on

Recently, news broke that WINU-FM in Albany would be carrying the Mets for the upcoming season. The deal is for three years, and Mets’ fans making noise in the area can finally rejoice. The station carried the Mets in 2011, but after that year they were bumped in favor of the Boston Red Sox.

On Long Island and in surrounding areas, we’re now limited to an AM signal with WOR for the season. No disrespect to WOR, but I wish they were available in a higher quality. It’s like the old days of listening to WFAN on 660 AM. There’s simply no comparison.

I started a petition several months ago to make some noise around here, but honestly, nobody signed it, making me look like an idiot. I think people care, and I don’t understand why there can’t be some sort of deal struck with ESPN Radio or someone else. They’re loyal to WOR, almost absurdly at points.
