Technically, we were never out of business, but I have not been active since last April. And for those wondering where we’ve been, I feel like I owe you an explanation.
Much of the following, especially on our socials, is thanks to my Co-Founder, Matthew Falkenbury. He was a force on social media, and he built quite the experience. Thankfully, he’s gone. And I mean that in the nicest way. He’s doing wonderfully with his career, family and other aspects of life, so he chose to leave the Stache in his rearview mirror, which I whole heartedly support
For me, the struggle has been time. I am a damn hard worker, always working 2-3 jobs to support my wife and my lifestyle. Living on Long Island is fun, but it ain’t cheap, so we gotta do what we gotta do.
Now, on to the Mets…the passion is still very much there. Thanks to Steve and Alex Cohen, the Mets are no longer funded by Fred Coupon and co, and we saw the fruits of the labor last season with 101 wins. Although the veteran-laden team ultimately ran out of gas, it was a fun year, and there’s no reason why Mets fans can’t dream about championships in the future. The time is now.
If it wasn’t, why would they invest in aging aces like Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. I can’t believe Jacob deGrom is gone, but it’s probably for the best, although I’d love to hear “what really went down,” as Buck Showalter alluded to a couple of weeks ago.
Jeff McNeil’s extension is encouraging, and hopefully Pete Alonso is not far behind. I was also pleased to see the Mets keep Brandon Nimmo, who seemed to operate as the sparkplug when things were going well the last few seasons.
Anyway, I plan to be more active on here, and would love some help. If you know someone who loves to write, send them my way. I’ll give them a shot. We all love the Mets. There’s no reason why we can’t express it. More to come, but until then, Lets Go Mets!
