Fred Wilpon has been announced as the MLB Finance Chair and this should send chills down the back of all baseball fans especially fans of the team that he owns.
While many Jokes can be made about the man swindled by Bernie Madoff is now in charge of the league finances but this further proves that people in high places view them as sound and smart business people.
For them to view them in such good light really does make you think that if the idea that the family is spending less money on the team as a financial move to help fund their mall project does carry some water
Even more worrisome is that despite the Mall accusations, this just cements the idea that the Wilpons are looked upon in such a good light with MLB that there will never be a chance of them getting involved with the Wilpons selling the team.
Us fans can protest, complain and put up many billboards but the team will be under the Wilpon family name until they decide otherwise and there is nothing we can do.
It was common knowledge that outgoing baseball GM Bud Selig has always been good friends with Fred Wilpon but with MLB appointing him in a role such financial role as this shows that Selig is not the Wilpons only close friend in the league office and the Wilpon family is likely to be around much longer than any of us would like them to be.
