In a move that’s a little perplexing to me, the Mets have signed former Rays top prospect Desmond Jennings to a minor-league contract.

In seven years in the pros, the 30-year-old Jennings has hit .245 with a .322 OBP. His best year was in 2012, when he hit 13 homers, drove in 47 RBI and stole 31 bases. I understand his speed being attractive, but does he still have the same wheels he had five years ago?
Jennings to play with Las Vegas. OPS topped .664 last two years. Low-risk move but question of how much upside.

I don’t see him making an impact, but I guess time will tell. Check below for Desmond Jennings robbing his now-teammate Jose Reyes of a hit.
