The Mets finally proved that they have a pulse. According to Marc Carig of Newsday, the Mets are closing in on a two-year deal with right-handed reliever Anthony Swarzak.
One day after whiffing on a pair of their top relief targets, the Mets pivoted to righthander Anthony Swarzak. In agreement on 2 years,$14m sources tell Newsday.

The 32-year-old Swarzak was very good last season for the White Sox and Brewers. Combined, in 77.1 innings, Swarzak was 4-3 with a 2.23 ERA. He gave up just 58 hits while striking out 91. For his career, he’s got a 4.22 ERA.
The Mets hope he carries last year’s success forward, obviously.
I don’t hate this move. He can be a valuable middle relief option to go along with A.J. Ramos, Jerry Blevins and Jeurys Familia. I’d still like one more arm, such as Joe Smith, but I think this officially ends any chances of an Addison Reed return.
