It’s been quite the week for Wilmer Flores, who went from almost being traded to crying on the field to staying a Met to hitting a walk-off home run and becoming a cult hero.
Flores, who turns 24 today, can celebrate his birthday by relaxing and taking a deep breath. He has reason to smile with the Mets winning six in a row and holding a two-game lead over Washington for first place in the NL East. While the Mets are off, it’s a good day to reflect. Guys like Flores, Uribe, Johnson and Murphy might not play everyday down the stretch, especially with David Wright on the comeback trail, but that doesn’t mean they’re not important.
Everyone needs to play their part, and we could potentially be in for something special. For more on Flores, check below from MLB.com.
