Despite Losing Games, Young Guns Heating Up for Mets

on

Winning and losing is almost immaterial at this point of the season, although you can bet that the Mets would rather be winning. There have been some positives to take out of the recent action, including some notes mentioned below.

  • Amed Rosario is hitting .313 (21-67) with two home runs and four RBI over his last 19 games…He is 6-for-his-last-11 (.545) since missing six games with swelling in his right index finger…Rosario is batting .375 (12-32) over his last 10 games…He tied his career- high with three hits last night.
  • In 12 games this month, Dominic Smith is batting .273 (12-44) with three doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and four walks…Smith leads the Mets in RBI (18) since August 11, when he made his major league debut, and also leads the team in homers (six)…Smith is batting .333 (10-30) with two homers and 13 RBI with runners in scoring position.
  • Over his last 23 games, Brandon Nimmo is batting .290 (20-69) with four doubles, three home runs, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored…He has 16 walks and a .427 OBP since August 20.
  • Historical Note: Jose Reyes became the 13th player in team history to reach 100 home runs on September 8…Reyes became the fifth player in team history to have 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases, joining Darryl Strawberry, Howard Johnson, Carlos Beltrán and David Wright.

We can continue to see optimism, despite the negative results.
