Former Mets all-star catcher and soon-to-be hall of famer Mike Piazza put on his jersey one more time Thursday, but it wasn’t the one you would think.
It wasn’t a Mets jersey, a Dodgers jersey or even a Marlins jersey (they were called the Florida Marlins then), but he donned a Florida Panthers jersey to drop the puck during their game against the Colorado Avalanche.
I don’t have any official results on who won the ceremonial face-off, but I do know the Panthers’ mascot looks like he’s ready to pounce, so I’d bet on him gaining control.
