This ends any talk of the Mets making a move for Simmons, as it was reported earlier in the day that the Braves asked the Mets for one of Matt Harvey or Jacob deGrom for Simmons, which management didn’t entertain for one second.

This is good news. Simmons is out of the National League East and out of the National League. Enjoy being robbed of hits AL West.

As for the return, early word suggests Erik Aybar will headline the package for Atlanta, along with two top pitching prospects, but neither team has confirmed the trade. Below you’ll see a couple of examples of how Simmons has hurt the Mets over the years.
