Good Afternoon Mets fans! Late last night and early this morning, rumors have been swirling around Twitter and other internet sources that the Mets plan to acknowledge Chipper Jones’ career accomplishments at a home game this season.

After listening to callers on WFAN and fans on Twitter, reactions to this rumor have been mixed.

Early this morning, WFAN contacted a Mets team official and they were told that the rumor is indeed true, but the official would not elaborate on what exactly will take place and when it will be.

I think this could go over good or bad depending on exactly how the Mets do it, and this is why I am not going to judge either way just yet. If the Mets go out and honor Chipper’s career, specifically against the Mets, I do not think I would be a fan of it.

If the Mets acknowledge Chipper’s hall of fame career in a general sense, with possibly a slight mention of his historic success against them, then I would be fine with it. This way the fans could decide whether they would cheer or boo Chipper.

And knowing Chipper, he would love it either way.

Overall, love him or hate him, Chipper owned the Mets over his long career, and I think we owe a cap tip to him, even if it is just for the sake that we will not have to worry about him killing us anymore!

As always, I would love to hear your take on this! Leave a comment telling me how you feel, or let me know on twitter, @tysim19.
