Steven Was Simply Matzerful

Steven Matz tossed a career-high tying 7.2 innings and did not allow a run while picking up his fourth win of the season yesterday.

He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Over his last four starts, Matz is 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA (two earned runs/27.0 innings pitched). He’s struck out 29 and walked five in that stretch.

MAtz has won four straight starts for the first time in his career and it’s the first time any Mets starter has won four straight starts since Jacob deGrom won five consecutive starts from July 8-Aug. 2, 2014. Matz has not allowed a run in his last 13.2 innings dating to his last start, a new career-high. His previous career-best scoreless streak was 9.2 innings from June 28-July 5, 2015.
