In the bottom of the sixth inning of Saturday afternoons Mets-Nationals game Bartolo Colon was on the mound with Jayson Werth leading off.
Werth, who had robbed Daniel Murphy the night before of a home run, hit a shot to dead center field and looked to have gotten the Nationals to within two runs.
The Mets center fielder Juan Lagares, a guy who had been controversially benched the past four days, is a defensive wizard and helped to return the favor to Werth and did this…
That is some catch by Lagares but us Mets fans are used to seeing great defense from him everytime he is out there.
Even the Nationals twitter account was impressed…
Tip of the cap to Juan Lagares, who returns the favor on behalf of Mets to Jayson Werth, who just smashed one to CF that goes for a long out

With a home run already for Lagares and that great catch it is our hope that Terry Collins doesn’t think he needs more time off.
Lagares is free and the Mets are better for it.
A distinction for Juan Lagares: 1st time this year a player hit a HR and robbed a HR in the same game (h/t: @fieldingbible folks)
