Buffalo Bisons (20-16; 3 1/2 GB)

-The Bisons started the week off in poor fashion with a doubleheader loss to Rochester last Saturday, then came the deep south roadtrip that started off with three straight wins over Gwinnett but the Braves salvaged the last game of the four-game set. Buffalo is now in Charlotte on a four-game trip and have lost the first two by the scores of 3-2 and 5-4. The team has two more games against the Knights before returning home until the end of the month, which includes “road” games against Scranton-Wilkes Barre (5/24-27).

-The team is being led by Bobby Scales who’s hitting .339, however Scales announced his intentions to leave the team and sign to play in Japan which opens up a starting spot in Buffalo. Meanwhile newly signed Brad Emaus is up to his old tricks that we saw last season, he’s hitting .200 with one RBI in 20 at-bats. On the mound Jeremy Hefner is continuing to lead the staff with a 1.77 ERA in six starts. On the other hand Matt Harvey has a 4.00 ERA in seven starts, and Jeurys Familia has a 4.41 ERA in as many starts.

Binghamton Mets (16-18; 5 1/2 GB)

-The B-Mets went 3-4 this week and have scored 20 runs in their last three games, unfortunately they were shut out yesterday falling to New Hampshire by the score of 9-0. The team finishes up their series with the Fisher Cats today before a day off and a quick three-game homestand against the Trenton Thunder.

-A new leader stands atop the batting average list as Jefry Marte is hitting .311 with 14 RBI. He trails only Josh Rodriguez (17) and Matt Den Dekker (15) in terms of runs batted in. Reese Havens is struggling with a capital “S” hitting .111 in his last 10 games to drop his season batting average to .167. On the mound two starting pitchers are flirting with 2.00 ERA’s including top-prospect Zack Wheeler (2-2, 2.05 ERA), while Mark Cohoon has a 2.06 ERA in as many starts. Colin McHugh also has a 2.40 ERA to be the third guy under two and a half runs in the starting rotation.

St. Lucie Mets (28-8; 9 GA)

-Put a bow on the first half division title for the St. Lucie Mets, already a nine game lead in the division with a 6-3 record this past week, last night the Mets lost to Bradenton by the score of 9-2 but they’re allowed to lose once in a while right? They have a day off today but return home to Digital Domain Park on Monday for a return trip by Bradenton.

-In the batter’s box Darrell Ceciliani continues to lead the team in hitting at a 3.46 clip the other duo of the outfield group sees Cesar Puello hitting .287 and one of the team’s top outfield prospects Cory Vaughn hitting only .242 with eight home runs and 19 RBI. 2011 draftee Danny Muno is continuing to work his way up the Mets’ farm system hitting at a .284 clip with five homers and 18 RBI.

Savannah Sand Gnats (22-13; 3 GB)

-A 5-2 week has put the Sand Gnats within three games of division leading Charleston heading into Sunday afternoon’s contests. Savannah continues their roadtrip against Hickory today before they return home on Thursday to take on Augusta.

-Shortstop TJ Rivera is hitting .364 with five home runs and 17 RBI, and is followed closely in the batting average category by Travis Taijeron who was also a member of the 2011 draft class. Outfielder Dustin Lawley is hitting .268 with four home runs and 16 RBI. On the mound Tyler Pill is leading the Gnats with 33 1/3 innings pitched with a 1.89 ERA. The ERA leader for the team is a 21-year old named Alex Panteliodis who has a 0.89 ERA, you read that correctly 0.89 in six starts and over 30 innings pitched.
