The End of An Era in NY

on

Even for myself as a Mets’ fan, it’s been an emotional last few weeks of the season to say the least.

With all of the accolades, tributes and honors, baseball and New York are saying goodbye to one of the most beloved players ever to call New York home. A lot of players get in trouble. For example, I was in Boston when the Mets and Red Sox were playing, and Carl Everett thought it was a good idea to head-butt the umpire. For those who may not remember Carl Everett, see below.

Also, you have the PED scandal Alex Rodriguez was involved with, as well as the numerous other players who’ve been in trouble over the years.

There is one fan who New York fans will revere forever. Every woman wanted him and every man wanted to be him. To him I want to say thank you. Thank you for being a role model to the younger generations. Thank you for being classy and not showing up. Thank you for being the best you can be, both on and off the field, no matter what city you were in.

Finally, all I can say, with tears welling up in my eyes…is thank you Bobby Abreu.
