Wearing a Jersey Enhances the Mets’ Fan Experience

on

Growing up, having the most up-to-date jersey was almost a mandate for me in my life. Whether we were talking about the Mets, Jets, Knicks or Rangers, I always had my Bonilla, Hundley, Piazza, Wright, or Harvey ready to go for the Mets.

It was only one time, when I graduated from college, that I got a gift card from a friend and decided to use it to personalize a baseball jersey. I never had a Mets jersey with my last name on it, but that wasn’t the hard part. The hard part was figuring out what number to put on it.

I could honor one of my favorite players, mentioned above, but that seemed like too much of a cop out, and then it hit me. 86. That was the last time the Mets won the World Series and it was also the year I was born. On the flip side, my father calls it the curse of 1986, because although my mother was pregnant with me when they won, they haven’t won a championship during my nearly 29 years of life.

The jersey adds special value to the experience. We all like to affiliate with a team, not only because we’re proud to root for them, but we feel like we’re one of them. If we don’t come out and cheer, and the team loses, it’s our fault. If we don’t wear the same exact outfit that led a win last time and they lose this time, it’s our fault. The fans are just as important, if not more, than any one individual player, even someone like Yoenis Cespedes.

I also got the jersey from majestic athletic, and they have a lot of options for us Mets’ fans to consider. If you’re looking to step up your game, you need to personalize a jersey with them. It’s easy, quick and you won’t break the bank.

I, for sure, am not done buying jerseys. It’s silly to buy those second-hand shirts or non-legitimate jerseys. Majestic Athletic is the real deal, and that’s why they’re an on-field partner of Major League Baseball, producing official game jerseys and workout gear for major league teams.
